The Rainmaker's First Commandment
Treat each customer how you would want to be treated. This is one of the most basic principles, but it is often neglected. Do you enjoy being overcharged? No one does. And no one likes to be underserved, overbooked, falsely promised, ignored, not thanked, taken advantage of, etc. Ask yourself: What would you want if you were the customer? That is the place to start.

Stop making excuses. Understand your goals. It doesn't matter how long you've been doing this or how big or how small your company is. You can land any deal you want if you are polite, go after the big fish, meet with decision makers, plan for meetings, ask the right questions, explain your Points of Difference, close deals and deliver on your promises.

You are good at what you do, even if you don't have the BIG client yet. Use these techniques to get that client and then work to make them happy. They will then refer you to those they know and you will have work on your desk and money in your pocket.
